Portrait Magdeleine CARRIER (1748-1833)

Don’t be deceived by this sweet and amiable face: Magdeleine was a true entrepreneur who built up a prosperous business to pass down to her children. Indeed, widowed at the age of 37, she was left to take care of the business on her own and bring her sons up to work in ceramics. She entrusted the latter task to her brothers, who taught Joseph-Marie, François and Nicolas-Séverin all the tricks of the trade, training them up to take the helm at the workshop.
